Powder Room wall

Powder room are hard to modified or have ideas to implement due to its small size, however, here you will see how changing a wall can make such an improvement.

Powder room wall

This may seem daunting but it is quite easy to make.

Here’s a simple set of instructions for making a decorative wall using MDF, nails, glue, primer, and paint:

  1. Plan & Measure – Decide on the design (panels, geometric, or board-and-batten), then measure and mark your wall for placement. For this project, I was looking for a brick design.

  2. Cut & Prepare MDF – Cut the MDF boards or panels to size with a saw, making sure edges are smooth.

  3. Attach MDF – secure with finishing nails using a nail gun or hammer. You can opt to apply wood glue to the back of each piece and press it onto wall if you don't have a nail gun accessible. Note. I did a notch on two of the sides of each panel to create that gap. However, an alternative is to place a gapper of your choice but keep in mind that the wall might be visible.

  4. Fill & Sand – Fill nail holes and seams with wood filler, let it dry, then sand smooth for a seamless finish. Take your time here. Due to the number of nails used, I have to sand multiple times and fill the nails to make sure they were even and wouldn't leave any trace of holes after priming and painting. Do not rush it.

  5. Prime & Paint – Apply a coat of primer to seal the MDF, then paint in your desired color for a polished look.
